Things to do in Uppsala during SistaApril 2010

Champagne gallop
Valborg has finally arrived. Gallop to the Uplands Nation and enjoy spring in our lovely garden. On stage Yad Kalashnikov. four bars and a lovely garden, it can not go wrong. Admission: 60 kr, 40 kr for Uplänningar (members of Uplands nation).

Celebrate Walpurgis Eve with Uppsala’s 30,000 students on the last day of April.
9-10
AM: Duck race in Fyrisån River. Buy a duck and you can win great prices. The race is a fund raising project for The University Hospital Children's Fund.
10-12
AM: Students raft in Fyrisån River. A variety of rafts and boats, each more imaginative than the other, glide down the falls by the Uppland Museum.
10-17
PM Concerts in Ekonomikumparken. Local bands playing on stage all day long.
11.45 AM: Herring lunch at Uppsala Concert & Congress. Take part in a Swedish tradition! Join the herring lunch on Walpurgis day, on the last day of April. Get your tickets at http://www.ukk.se/ and Ticnet.
12-2.30 PM: Culture in the University park. The Student Nations in Uppsala invites you to experience choir singing, theatre and orchestras in the University park.
3 PM: Cap on! The university’s vice-chancellor raises his white student cap from the balcony of the Carolina Rediviva library, which is the signal to one and all to put their caps on, too. Then everyone runs the “champagne gallop” down the hill.
3 PM: Orchestra Phontrattarne. Listen to the orchestra play and join the dance outside Norrlands Nation.
3:15 PM: Spring concert. The world-famous OD choir welcome spring with song in the university auditorium.
9 PM: Evening concert by Uppsala Castle. Allmänna Sången choir performs spring songs near the Gunilla Bell by Uppsala Castle.
